Introduction to Fire Chaplaincy (Somerville)

Sponsored by AFFC, this is a one-day training event highly recommended for those beginning their fire chaplaincy, bringing a chaplain into their department, or interested in becoming a chaplain. This course will cover the following: Why a Fire Chaplain is Needed, Incident Command System Overview, A Chaplain’s Role in a Crisis, The Power of Listening, Intro to Critical Incident Stress Management, Designing Your Fire Chaplaincy Program, How to Make a Proper Death Notification, Role in a LODD & More.

This event is on August 1st at Shiloh Church in Somerville from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a coffee fellowship and sign-in starting at 8:45. ALL current Active AFFC Members are $25. Non or In-Active AFFC members are $50. Price includes the training class, any necessary materials, lunch, snacks, and drinks. Early registration is required, but late registration will be available depending on space.

Assisting Individuals in Crisis (Muscle Shoals)

Sponsored by AFFC, this chaplaincy training is a two-day event highly recommended for fire chaplains that provides techniques for one-on-one crisis intervention for those in the fields of Disaster Response, Emergency Services, Security, Military, Mental Health, Healthcare, Education, Spiritual Care, etc. This course will cover Psychological Crisis and its Intervention, Resistance, Resiliency, Recovery Continuum, Critical Incident Stress Management, Basic Crisis Communication Techniques, Psychological & Behavioral Crisis Reactions, Putative & Empirically Derived Mechanisms, SAFER-Revised Model, Risks of Iatrogenic “Harm,” Suicide Intervention and Evidence-Based Practice.

This event is on August 14th and 15th at the Regional Training Center in Muscle Shoals from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily with a fellowship and sign-in starting at 8:30. ALL current Active AFFC Members are $225. Non/In-Active AFFC members are $250.  The price includes the training classes, all course materials, and daily lunches, snacks, and drinks.
